Championnat de France 2010 12 & 13 juin 2010 Casting club de calais

JP Debrie won the French title last weekend confirming his form as the leading caster in France this year. He set the pace with the first cast of the competition, and never lost control. Saturday saw the 125gr and then the 100gr castin windy but difficult conditions. He finished the day holding a 9m advantage over Fabrice Roehrig in 2nd place, with Stephane Moulin in 3rd. Dédé, like many struggled with the 100gr in the conditions, and was lying in 5th place behind Olivier Folcke.
Sunday saw a determined Fabrice closing the gap to about 2m on the 150gr during the rounds, before JP clawed some ground back on the last cast of the day. The day had started with 3 casts with the 175gr (not counting for the title) for those aiming for team selection and others who fancied giving a swing.
The competition was nearly flooded off on Saturday. Due to problems of access to the usual casting fields, the event was held on the beach. When asked about problems with the incoming tide, we were told that the tide only comes up this far once or twice a year. Half way through the last round with the 125gr, we had to abandon the court. The tide being pushed by a very strong wind made an unwanted appearance.

Australian Championship Comp 13th June @ Lancefield - Result

The day that greeted the casters wasn’t the best that Victoria can offer with a cloudy overcast day with cold south to south west wind making itself felt not because of the strength of it but by the way it cut through the warmth and made you realise that we are now into winter. Thankfully for all concerned the rain that threatened all day did not eventuate and we were able to have a great but difficult days casting with the lead changing places during the course of the day.

Conditions – Wind NW 5-15mph, Dry, rain for an hour - 26 casters.
For most of the day wind was 5 to 10mph and quite often across court, then at about 3-30 it rained for about three quarters of an hour when over half went home then the rain stopped and the wind picked up strength so casting went on until 7pm but only 3 casters improved with the extra wind and that was the top 3

The forecast 15mph winds failed to materialise early and the casters were greeted with little or no wind when they arrive
When the wind did finally pick up, it was hard down the left of court and stayed there for most of the day, only swinging into court for 2 -3 rounds mid-afternoon
