CUTHECORNER FRIENDS

Hi Cut the Corner, I think that name suits.
My name is Dennis Retter, I am 1.850 mts tall, weight 95 kilos. I am a builder.
I have been casting for 29 years, and my aim was to cast 230 mts at least once each year until i was 60 years old, I was 62 last aug and am still casting over 230 mts ( 3 events this year)
my personal records are 258 mts on 125gm, 253 mts on 175gm, 247 mts on 150gm, 237 mts on 100gm, 220 mts on 200gm, 202 mts on 75gm, 168mts on 50gm and 103 mts on 18 gm plug.
I am Chairman of United Kingdom Surfcasting Federation, England Casting Manager, Chairman Westward Casting Association, Chairman Honiton Sea Angling Club.
represented England at least 7 times, best position at UKSF event 5th.
the casting I saw when I came to spain, very good casters and with a bit of coaching can soon compete with the very best.
I come from Honiton in Devon in the South West of England
for those just starting , take advice but not from a lot of people, try to stay with one coach, for some it takes time to get better as was with myself, there are some bad days but the good days make up for them.allways have a coach at hand even when you are the best caster in the world as that person can tell you when things are not right.
I came into the sport when I wanted to learn to cast further for fishing and then the casting bug took over, now i spend more time casting than i do fishing.
My favourite technique is the flat pendulem( when i get it right.
at the moment my best set up is ZZiplex M4 evo 14ft 4 in and Abu ultra mag reels, I have been using Abu Ultra mag reels for 25 years and would not change.
I have no favourites, i have seen so many over the years and have enjoyed casting with the best for so long now. if you had to name one it would have to be Danny as he has been the best for 10 years now and that is a long time at the top.
I do not make much preparation for a tournament as I do at least 40 a year and my work keeps me quite fit, so a bit of stretching before an event , maybe a few whiskeys the night before, as it is important to relax before an event.
I prefer a multiplier ,not sure why but that is what I have allways used and i prefer to pendulem but it is best to learn off the ground when you start as it puts your arms and timing easier.
Technique will allways win over strenght.
A dream cast is that Majic 300 yards .
to be able to read the weather is most important as high and low pressure conditions can make a big difference to how you cast.
Hope this helps.
Yours Dennis

Muchisimas gracias Dennis R. -Cap. del equipo ingles de longcasting.
