This was our fur and feather event and everyone was in certainly in the festive mood, we even had Santa put in an appearance for a couple of chucks. It was a great day and loads of fun and some cracking casting to boot. Gareth Davies won the centre line prize 20 cm off at 240 meters and Garwyn Shortman a junior member was the bull's eye winner, he showed great accuracy to place his lead just 30cm of the target.

Wind was from the west all day approximately 15 - 20mph the odd shower but all in all a good day for a casting tournament.

Pole position this month went to Gareth Davies with an impressive 248 meter closely followed by Nigel Hutchinson showing some form with a late surge of 238 meters just pippin Mike Dagnall who smashed 235 meters keeping up resent successes.

We were again in the field opposite our usual field and would like to remind every one that we will not be casting in the old field for the foreseeable future.

1 - What is your name, weight, height, profession?
Scott Selby – 174 cm – too heavy – school teacher

2 - Where are you from?
Im from Gerringong, N.S.W, Australia, a small town on the beach

3 - How long have you been with this casting?
I have been envolved in casting competitions since 1983, so most of my life.

4 - How you came into this world of casting?
1983, through a fishing club, with my dad.

5 -What are your personal records and accomplishments as a caster? To what weights?
Records – Australian
50 gram – 192 metres
75 gram – 229 metres
100 gram – 260 metres
125 gram – 269 metres
150 gram – 273 metres
175 gram – 269 metres

6 -How do you see the sport of casting today?
Casting today has improved significantly – people are finally starting to think outsider the box and try different styles.

7 - Do you have any special memories in this casting?
I have many special memories in casting – as an 11 year old watching my father break an Australian record – winning my first national jnr title in 1988 – breaking my first adult record in 2004 – Breaking 3 records in England at Sutton Valance – Coming 3rd in the Primo World Championship – every time I break a record in Australia.

8 - What is your favorite technique?
3 Step high swing

9 - Who is your favorite caster?
Danny, Jason.Willicombe, Me

10 - What are your preferences .(Rods and reels)?
125 grams and 175 grams – on Century WR300 with abu 5500

11 - Multiplier or fixed spool? Why?
Multiplier, Orly because it goes further

12 - Pendulum or OTG? Why?
Pendulum

13 - How do you prepare for the competition?
Drink heaps of booze – no, really – I practice my sinker swing heaps, not so much casting, just lots of practice on my sinker swing

14 - Is it better to read the weather conditions in the sport, has the edge?
It is important to be able to hit the correct side of court – being able to cast near the side line on the correct side of court can give you as much as 10 metres advantage – however I think too many people worry about the weather. I really can hit almost 250 metres in most conditions, because I focus on technique and effort more than on weather.

15 - Power or technique?
Technique

16 - How long do you think is necessary to devote to the training?
Use a video camera and a hockey or cricket ball so you can see where the sinker is going – then start some practice casts with your eyes shut to feel everything
– then alter more experience Orly have up to 5 casts in a practice, but make each one as hard as physically possible.

17 - What you think is the real secret of casting?
Finding out what your natural abilities are and developing a style to match them, then putting in every ounce of strength you have into EVERY cast

18 - A dream of caster?
290 metres

19 - What would you say to people who start in this sport?
Take risks, try to hit it hard, don’t over think – use your natural ability

20 - Did you ever see in Spain?
I have never been to Spain, but would like to – some of the fishing looks great and I love their soccer team.

Sudamericano ,Longcasting, Mar de Plata 5 y 6/12/09

Pues nada arrancamos de nuevo con mas informacion de otro evento importante en el mundo del casting.Los amigos argentinos hicieron el 1er Sudamericano de Longcasting Mar de Plata 2009.
Se celebro el evento en dos dias,5 y 6 de diciembre 2009,dos plomos por dia.

Sussex Casting Club , Steyning 6/12/09

-Muchas gracias a las 29 Casters que vinieron a Steyning hoy.
-El viento era de 38-58 km/h SW. La lluvia se mantuvo lejos.
-Enorabuena a todos los que an mejorado sus PB hoy.
-Danny Moeskops logró un gran lance de más 287 metros que creo recordar es el lance más grande jamás registrado en el Reino Unido.
-También merecen una mención Andy Copping, que es convertir a moldes de 300 yardas.
-Enorabuena a Alan Bowden y Tony Jones, quienes les tocaron premios en la rifa, gracias a todos aquellos que ayudaron a hacer otro gran año para el club. Trataremos de asegurarnos de que el año próximo sea mejor.

-¿De donde eres?
Ramos Mejía .Buenos Aires ARGENTINA.

-¿Cuando empezaste en esto del casting?
Comencé a practicar el lanzamiento en el año 1986,y en torneos oficiales 1987.
-¿Records oficiales,oficiosos,Competiciones?
Los oficiales son: en 1987

De esta manera podría continuar con mis logros en lanzamiento pero siento que es demasiado, y resultados que me han sido muy favorables hasta hoy en día .
Ya he terminado mi carrera en distancia pura (libre),y ahora desde hace un par de años dándole al rotativo...jjjjaaaaajjj,y me está gustando muchísimo...

Los récords que tengo son: limitado 120grs :606 mtrs sumados 3 lances.otg.

Nacional Olavarría : libre 114grs : 295.66 mtrs 1 lance otg libre.

Sudamericano Paraguay 1994 " " : 276 22 " "
Metropolitano federativo 2000 " 30grms : 189.54 " caña 2.50mtrs " caña una mano.
Nacional Olavarría 2001 " 150grms :256.47 " 1lance otg libre.
Una anecdota; mi mejor tiro fue en un entrenamiento de un selectivo para un sudamericano,310m..con 114gr.

-¿como ves el casting hoy,del que tu viste antaño?
Mucho mas interesante y mucho mas técnico por la incorporación ,del rotativo y el péndulo.


-¿que les dirias a la gente que empieza en este deporte?
"QUE LO DISFRUTE"... QUE ABRIRÁ SU MENTE... HA ... Y QUE LA USE.

-¿cuanto tiempo crees que es necesario dedicarle al entreno,para mejorar?
Una vez por semana y tres días antes de un campeonato (ES MUY SALUDABLE QUEDARSE SIEMPRE CON GANAS DE TIRAR)

-¿como,cuando y porque entraste en este deporte?
En 1986 ,porque fuí pescador toda mi vida...

-¿cual es tu tecnica preferida?
Me gustaría entrenar Pendulo (es muy exigente)

-¿con que equipo actualmente tiras,reel y cañas?
Con la HOMELESS H1 N1 ,rotativo 5500 Abu . 3.50 mts.

-quien es tu caster preferido?
Lee Andrews. Scott Selby. Neil Mackellow. Schrader

-¿rotatorio o frontal,por que?
Rotativo: tecnicamente superior.

-¿pendulo o OTG?
Ya con 20 años de OTG me gustaría "pendulear"

-¿cual piensas que es el verdadero secreto del casting?

Los deseos de superación personal.
Tener la esposa justa...(que apoye)
Ypor sobre todo el cerebro muy a punto.
EL CASTING ES UNA SUMA DE MUCHAS DOTES PERSONALES...MENTE.AUTOCRITICA AND MORE MATERIA GRIS.

-¿Con que te quedarias si solo pudieras elegir una cosa,fuerza o tecnica?
TECNICA.

-¿un sueño de caster?
Tirar mejor la próxima práctica...

-¿piensas que las condiciones climatologicas son importantes,como asi lo parecen?
Sí y el lugar también...
